The Designers for Hope First Annual Showcase is a fundraising event to benefit the House of Hope, a shelter for homeless mothers ages 18-24 and their children. Their mission is to offer a safe, supportive place where young mothers learn to become competent adults and independent, successful parents.
The home of the 2013 Showcase is located in the Lannon stone mansion in Astor Park. This beautiful home, built in 1926 by the Baum Family, is one of the most architecturally significant period homes in Brown County. It was also owned by Otto Kaap and his wife for 35 years. Their love of music theatre and travel can be felt throughout the home. The Lutsey family then lived in the home for 35 years and seamlessly did the extensive addition and renovation in the late 1980s. The Chandler Blue family (current owner) is only the 4th family to have lived in this incredible home. This residence is a true work of art that has been meticulously cared for and maintained over the years.
Select designers will transform their assigned room, reflecting their personal tastes and ideas. Landscape designers will update the surrounding outside areas of the home. The house will then open to the public, to see the talented designers’ work and obtain ideas for their own home.
The estate’s prominence in the community and significance in the city should attract an impressive attendance. The success of this important fundraiser depends upon the generosity of our community visiting this showcase, communities in the surrounding areas, sponsors and the participation of the designers.
The benefit takes place over two weekends, May 10-12 and May 18-19, 2013. An exclusive preview event will be held on Friday, May 10th for sponsors and partners; however tickets will be sold to the general public to raise additional funds.
