VOLUNTEER

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with House of Hope Green Bay! We have ongoing volunteer opportunities for individuals and one-time volunteer opportunities for groups. Requirements of volunteers vary based upon the duties of the volunteer and the amount of interaction with residents and their children.

INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP VOLUNTEERS

We accept individuals who are volunteering to fullfil service hours, including high school and college requirements. Typically, individuals must be age 16 or older to volunteer with House of Hope. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. Youth under age 16 are welcome to volunteer with an adult.

All prospective volunteers must complete the Individual Volunteer Application and consent to a background check. Approved volunteers must complete Volunteer Forms, including a confidentiality agreement, liability waiver, and emergency contact information. Approved volunteers under age 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the Parent Forms.

New ongoing volunteers are required to attend Volunteer Orientation. This session includes an overview of volunteer expectations and client confidentiality, a brief history of House of Hope, a shelter tour and program overview, volunteer opportunities and scheduling, and Q&A.

Individuals who need a one-time volunteer experience for an educational requirement should contact engage@houseofhopegb.org. We may be able to accommodate you.

We accept volunteer groups of all types—corporate groups, faith communities, students, service clubs, and civic organizations. Depending on the season and activity, we can accomodate groups of up to 20 people.

Volunteer groups are required to arrange an appointment at least two weeks prior to the volunteer date. Priority will be given to groups on a first-come, first-served basis. Prospective groups can submit an inquiry using the Group Volunteer Application.

All group participants must complete House of Hope’s Visitor Forms—a confidentiality agreement and liability waiver. Volunteers participating in groups will receive a short orientation at the beginning of their volunteer shift and do not need to complete a separate orientation session.

In addition to traditional, on-site volunteer opportunities, there are many different ways for groups to support House of Hope.

Individual Volunteer Application

For individuals who wish to volunteer on an ongoing basis, including families or small groups who wish to volunteer together. Each person should complete the application.

Group Volunteer Application

For groups of 4 or more people affiliated with a businesses, club, church, school, or other organization seeking a one-time volunteer opportunity.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Administrative Support: Data entry and database maintenance, scanning and filing, social media content creation, etc.

Boutique: Sort and wash clothing and linen donations, organize and fold/hang clothes, rotate seasonal items, keep the boutique clean and organized

Celebration Dinner: Provide a meal for the youth and families in shelter on the third Wednesday of the month. Meals must be prepared off site. Anyone can sign up—a volunteer application and orientation are not required. Celebration dinner volunteers do not interact with House of Hope residents

Cleaning: Wash windows; vacuum/mop floors; disinfect surfaces; clean upholstery; deep clean kitchens, laundry rooms, and bathrooms; clean rental units between tenants; etc.

Events or Donation Drives: Plan and execute fundraising events or donation drives with support from staff; assist with House of Hope events.

Facility Maintenance: Ensure efficient operation of systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.) conduct preventative maintenance and repairs, change lightbulbs, rake leaves, trim hedges, etc.

Gardening: Plant, weed, and maintain garden beds and landscaping.

Organizing: Track and sort donations; organize basement storage areas, closets, and pantries; maintain diaper inventory; etc.

Painting: Assist with painting interior walls at House of Hope properties. Need not be a professional, but painting experience is required.

Childcare: Take care of children while their parents are in programming; shifts are typically 1-2 hours and most children are under the age of six.

Care Kits: create activity, self-care, hygiene, or meal kits for clients
